‘Killer’ becomes ‘Slayer’ for Bryan Singer’s 3D feature with an earlier release

New Line and Warner Bros. have retitled director Bryan Singer’s fantasy-adventure Jack the Giant Killer to Jack the Giant Slayer calling it a more family friendly title.

The release date for the film, based on the classic fairy tale, has also seen a change moving three weeks earlier from March 22nd to March 1st. The film stars Nicholas Hoult as a young man who unintentionally opens up a gateway between earth and a race of giants.

Vision3’s Chris Parks continues work on the feature in his role as Stereo Supervisor.

The BBC’s adaptation of Mr Stink to go 3D

It has been revealed that the BBC’s latest 3D project is to be a 60 minute adaptation of David Walliam’s best-selling children’s novel Mr Stink, a story about a tramp who is befriended by a young girl, Chloe.

Vision3’s Chris Parks and Matthew Smith have been announced as the stereography team working on the project which is due to TX at Christmas. Onsight will be providing cameras and post production facilities

The project, currently shooting in the UK, stars Hugh Bonneville as Mr Stink with Sheridan Smith and Johnny Vegas playing the parents of Chloe.

It was ordered by former comedy controller Cheryl Taylor and BBC1 boss Danny Cohen, while head of BBC in-house comedy Mark Freeland and Walliams are the executive producers.

Vision3 Stereographer Matthew Smith is calling on Producers to Embrace 3D at IBC

Vision3 Stereographer Matthew Smith will be joining Spencer Stephens, CTO of Sony Pictures and John Cassy, Channel Director at Sky 3D on stage at IBC this year, in a Conference session entitled “Why Budget Wary Producers Should Wake up To Stereoscopic 3D”.

Matt will be sharing his experience working as Stereographer on numerous feature films to prove that great 3D, when properly planned and executed, can be achieved within limited schedules, and be cost effective.

3D TV drama is as yet an untapped market and with an industry crying out for content, Producers need to start becoming aware of the opportunities that 3D can provide.
